Tech Lead
We're looking for a tech lead. This role reports to Martijn Moret, CTO of Mavic.ai. You will work closely with Martijn to implement requirements into our live app.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain ML pipelines for image, video, and text generation
- Fine-tune open-source models (SD, Llama, Mistral) for brand-specific outputs
- Design prompt engineering frameworks that preserve brand consistency
- Optimize inference latency and cost for real-time user experiences
- Collaborate with product to ship AI features end-to-end
- Document code and decisions for future reference
What you need
- 4 years of relevant full-time experience in which you’ve shipped production-grade applications with TypeScript, React Web, and MongoDB
- Prior work with LLM models or AI-APIs (OpenAI, LangChain, HuggingFace, etc.)
- You understand microservices, event-driven architectures, or GraphQL
- You have experiences with data structures and persistence models, can normalize when needed, and know when async beats sync (and when it doesn’t).
- You’re skilled in AI-assisted coding and know how to use it as an accelerator, not a move the hard work to the debug phase tool.
- You’re battle-tested at debugging: logs, stack traces, “why the hell isn’t this working?”—you get to the root cause, not the band-aid fix.
- You think in systems —you understand how backend choices ripple into frontend experiences (and vice versa).
- You must be proficient in English communication (speaking and writing).
Bonus Points
- Experience working with a distributed, remote-first team across time zones.
- End to end DevOps know-how with MERN and GCP
- An eye for UI/UX design details – you don't just make things work, you care about how they look
- Proficient with technical documentation that can be implemented (AI-written docs that never hit production don't count)
- You've worked in an AI tech startup
